Plot:
'Sura' is a story that is set in Yaazh Nagar, a fishermen hamlet in coastal Tamil Nadu. The name of the place has a lot of political significance with the recent political turmoil over the ethnic strife in the neighbouring Sri Lanka. Sura (Vijay) is born and brought up here and he is obviously the darling of the masses in the area.

He, in the company of his friend (Vadivelu), who is another fisher folk, brings the roof down in laughter. Their one-liners are hilarious. Meanwhile, our hero comes across young bubbly Poornima (Tamannah) who chooses to end her life unable to cope with the death of her pet dog.

Slowly, as expected she gets attracted towards Sura thanks to his good deeds. Finally romance blossoms between them. When things seem to go well, trouble enters in the form of a greedy and corrupt Minister Samuthira Raja (Dev Gill). He wants to usurp the land where these fishermen live. His attempts to take away the wealth is resisted by Sura. They cross swords with each other.

The Minister hatches a conspiracy to bump off Sura with the help of his Ministerial post and authority and unleashes cops against him. But a man of guts and determination, he takes on them single-handedly. Who emerges the winner is the climax?

Plot:

He comes across a baddie Chella (Ravishankar) who tries to play spoilsport in the life of his classmate Uma (Sanchitha Padukone). Ravi bashes him up. His troubles start as Chella's father Devanayakam (Salim Ghouse) with the help of greedy police hatches a conspiracy to kill him in a special encounter. It is now a cat and mouse game between the two. And it leads to a predictable climax.

Plot:
Pugal (Vijay) is a happy-go-lucky man who is on a mission. He works hand-in-glove for a cop, Joseph (Manoj K Jayan), who is on the lookout for an international gang led by the dreaded JD (Prakash Raj) who deals with drugs and ammunition. Review:
Madhesh in his first directorial venture has made up his mind that Vijay’s stardom would do the trick for the non-existence of an original storyline. The film has Vijay in every frame putting all other artistes out of the film. If you have seen Baasha then you have a track of the hero’s real identity kept a secret. Vijay in the first half is Madhura a vegetable vendor along with his aide Pandu ( Vadivelu) is a do gooder and protector of the family of Seetha and her two daughters. He eradicates loan sharks and fights bad guys in the market. The usual hero worship is shown and only a clue of a policeman saluting the vendor gives you an inkling of what is going to come. Now Seetha’s eldest daughter Sonia Agarwal who was working with Vijay was killed and mother blames it on Vijay and shoots him down. It’s turn of the film to shift to Swamy track. Vadivelu now opens the story of Vijay actually being Madhuravel IAS the district collector of Madurai. He is the action packed bureaucrat who takes to the streets to solve the problems of the citizens. He does the job of policing too and is up against criminals. He does not believe in IPS and police force to clean up the city. So one such clean up operation takes him to KTR (Pasupathi) who is running a parallel law enforcement system with his own court. He doles out justice to all and his God to the ordinary. Now Madhuravel does not take lightly to this parallel outfit . A clash takes place and Sonia Agarwal then PA to Collector gets killed. KTR puts the blame on the Collector. Now the IAS officer goes underground to surface as vegetable vendor because his aim is to pin down the KTR and his outfit. From now onwards it is Vijay on a rampage till KTR is finished and the murder charge removed.

Madhesh dwells on the stardom of Vijay to pull off a weak storyline. Shot by shot and punch dialogues every minute make you bored, as it is an overdose. As the story unfolds you are left wondering whether the entire film is only an exercise in boosting Vijay and not make out a sensible plot. Sonia Agarwal is the first casualty in the process. An actress who showed her talent in Kathal kondain has been sadly wasted and Rakashitha in the role of a research scholar seems to have made Vijay her subject to study. Madhesh has used her for the item numbers. Tejasree the item specialist too joins the crowd to display her wares. Pasupathi is predictable. Vidyasagar’s background score is too loud. Machan peru Madurey is catchy. Cinematography by Saravanan is effective. The first 15 minutes of the start and the opening block after interval is the only interesting part in the film. If you looking for something like Ghilli or quite near to it then you will be disappointed. If you are looking for lot of sound and fury for nothing and you are an ardent Vijay fan ,then you have the right film.

Plot:
Ganesh (Vijay) is the son of Government Hospital Doctor Chandrasekar (Raghuvaran). He is a BSc graduate and who is looking for a job. He falls in love with a girl called Santhya (Suvalakshmi) who claims she would not fall in love with any one. Her objective is to get a gold medal along with her degree. She is the daughter of Vasudevan (Rajan P. Dev) & Krishnaveni. Vasudevan is a rough police inspector and is a Doubting Thomas kind. Ganesh visits the bus stop daily to see Santhya and to travel in the same bus with her. As he does not know how to approach a girl to express his love, he seeks the help of his friends. They suggest some ideas to Ganesh but they don't work. Santhya even tells Ganesh openly that she does not like him. Prithi (Manthra) is Santhya's classmate and she loves Ganesh. He meets Prithi and requests her to convey his love to Santhya. Prithi first refuses but later she agrees to try. But her attempt is of no use. Ganesh never gives up. He continues to try to speak to Sandhya. In the meanwhile, Santhya's dad Vasudevan comes to know that Ganesh is following his daughter and he beats him up and arrests him. Santhya gets into trouble too. In an accident Vijay loses his father. Suva then tells him she's in love with him but finally Ganesh refuses her love because he feels he lost too much time following a girl who never will love him truly.

Plot:
Jeeva (Vijay) meets Mini (Shalini) in a book shop and their eyes meet leading to sparks of love in their hearts. Mini has a loving mother (K.P.S.Lalitha) and three brothers, James (Radha Ravi), Thomas (Thalaivaasal Vijay) and Stephen (newcomer Shaji Khan) and she is the apple of their eye. Mini is hesitant to reciprocate her love for Jeeva who steadily makes an inroad into her heart, the love affair incensing her family members who give him a thrashing each time he meets her. Jeeva's parents are under the impression that their son is pursuing his MBA studies until his father receives an SOS from Jeeva, injured in one such beatings. His father Chandrasekhar (Sivakumar) is stunned by the developments and Jeeva's mother (Srividya) is also shocked. Jeeva refuses to part company with Mini when his father arrives with his henchmen to take him back. The Christian family wants Jeeva dead. The developments till this juncture might have found expression in earlier movies but these events have been treated with a mature head along with some comic element by Charlie and Dhamu, as the friends of the hero. Realising that the lovers' existence is in danger, Kesavan (Charly) suggests that they find refuge in his father's (Manivannan's) fishermen hamlet and the couple elope followed by the brothers. Manivannan refuses to give them away and the brothers swear bloodshed. A registrar wedding is quickly arranged and on the eve of the wedding, the lovers learn of the unlimited love, affection and care their respective family members have for them and decide not to hurt their sentiments. They agree to part company. The fisherfolk leader is shocked first at their decision, and later understands their feelings and sends them back safely, an appreciable twist in the movie.

Review:
A fast- paced movie with hits, chases and the right mix of romance and humour is Gilli. Director Dharani, known for such movies, has come out with a three- hour entertainer by having actor Vijay single- handedly take on an influential gang and save a girl (Trisha) from their clutches. A good screenplay with peppy numbers has made the movie interesting.

Though there is nothing new about the story, Gilli is about a one-man army fighting the villain. After his Dhil and Dhool with Vikram in the lead role, Dharani has churned out this remake of the Telugu blockbuster Okkadu.

Vijay in GilliWith a huge starcast and grand sets, the movie takes many twists and turns. In between all this, is the aspect of humour and romance. With these ingredients, Dharani has given a sumptuous treat for Vijay's fans.

Vijay, son of a police officer played by Ashish Vidyarthi, is a happy-go-lucky youngster who spends most of his time playing kabbadi with friends.While going for a tournament in Madurai, he comes across Trisha, who is being tortured and kidnapped by an influential landlord Prakashraj, son of a State Minister. Prakashraj wants Trisha to marry him by threatening her.Vijay steps in to save her. After a tiresome chase, he manages to reach Chennai with Trisha.

Meanwhile, Prakashraj follows him to the city and zeroes in on Vijay and Trisha. However, Vijay manages to procure passports and visas for Trisha and sends her to USA. Only after leaving her in the airport, he realises that he had fallen in love with her.

The rest of the story revolves around how Vijay takes on Prakashraj and finally manages to win Trisha's love. The role in this film has been easy for Vijay. He is at his best in stunt and chase sequences. He has tried his hand at comedy too. Trisha looks convincing yet at many places appears deadpan while Prakashraj steals the show with his histrionics. However, towards the climax, he seems to have overacted.

The tunes are by Vidyasagar. Yet in the re-recording , he could have avoided a few jarring notes. The movie also has Dhamu, Nagendra Prasad, Mayilsamy, Chaplin Balu and Jennifer.

Plot:
The threesome who lend reason to the title are Aravindan(Vijay), Chandru(Surya) and Krishnamurthy(Ramesh Khanna). They value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandru resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Amutha(Vijayalakshmi). When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini(Devayani), who lives there and Padmini's jealous cousin(Abinayasri) makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandru stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.

After the marriage,Aravindan realises the hand of abhinaya behind all the mishaps and Padmini too realises Chandru is innocent.Then the marriage of Chandru and Amutha is arranged.This is not liked by Amutha's cousin who leads to a break in friendship between the heroes.The subsequent scenes maintain the tempo leading to a usual climax.
