Plot:
Deva (Suriya) is a typical Chennai youth. His mother (Renuka) aspires that her son would join government service. Pursuing his post graduate course, Deva instead works for Das (Prabhu), who runs a smuggling racket.A shrewd Deva is a carrier of smuggled articles bringing from abroad everything including pirated CDs of newly-released movies to diamonds without getting caught by customs officials.

However Kamalesh (Akashdeep Saigal), who runs a similar racket in the locality, starts to give nightmare for both Das and Deva. Keen to topple them, Kamalesh goes to any extremes. Das entrusts Deva with a job to smuggle diamonds from Congo. Intervenes Kamalesh. He sends his man to make Deva’s mission unsuccessful. But eventually he fails. Meanwhile, Deva falls in love with Yamuna (Tamannah), sister of Chitti’s (Jagan), who also works for Das.

Their rivalry hots up and a turn of events leads to Kamalesh bumping off Das. Deva goes on revenge mode. They sort out their enmity in the barren lands of Congo and a surprise awaits Suriya in the form of Narcotics Bureau chief Parthiban (Ponvannan) after he returns to the country.

Plot:
Abhesh Balaya (Surya), the guide-con man-thief, is footloose and fancy-free. He and his acolyte Sathyaraj (Sathyan) have no hang ups in life. He is also a huge fan of actor Ajith. Balaya's problems start when he and Satyan land up in a huge villa on the beachfront. He is there for making some quick money. It is actually actress Jyothika's house. When they realize it, they want to replace what they have taken. But, as it happens, the actress herself catches them and creates a huge kerfuffle. For their efforts, they are put behind the bars. Jyothika just doesn't like Balaya at all. Out of all, the two have their run-ins, and again Balaya is jailed. So out to take revenge on her, he kidnaps her. Just about when the whole industry and her family tries to trace Jyothika, she understands the real Balaya. All ends in a tacky and slightly laborious climax.

Plot:
Anbuchelvan (Surya) is part of a group of four Police officers who work battling organized crime in Chennai. Violent and laconic, he finds little patience for a personal life, until he turns hero in the eyes of schoolteacher Maya (Jyothika), and embarks on a little romance. Meanwhile, his squad kills the brother of a reckless criminal Pandya (Jeevan), but fails to wipe off the entire gang. Pandya's hoodlums then take the battle into the homes of the officers, going after their family members one by one. It all ends with the demise of Pandya and his gang in the hands of Anbuchelvan.

An epilogue shows that Anbuchelvan, after the death of Maya, continues his job as an IPS officer some weeks later.

The threesome who lend reason to the title are Aravindan(Vijay), Chandru(Surya) and Krishnamurthy(Ramesh Khanna). They value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandru resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Amutha(Vijayalakshmi). When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini(Devayani), who lives there and Padmini's jealous cousin(Abinayasri) makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandru stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.

After the marriage,Aravindan realises the hand of abhinaya behind all the mishaps and Padmini too realises Chandru is innocent.Then the marriage of Chandru and Amutha is arranged.This is not liked by Amutha's cousin who leads to a break in friendship between the heroes.The subsequent scenes maintain the tempo leading to a usual climax.
