Plot:

The movie unfolds in a village in Thirunelveli. Ramasamy (K Balachander) is an influential man in the village and he is a devoted to the principles of Congress since his childhood. He is against Singaravelan (Bharathiraja), a Communist.

Their feud runs for over four decades. Even their grand children are against each other and they form gangs to express their enmity. However a romance in the family changes the warm atmosphere.

Iyarkai (2003) is an award-winning debut venture in Tamil directed by S.P.Jananathan. Teaming with N.K.Ekambaram, also a relative newcomer in the field of cinematography, the director presents an unusual storyline through the imaginative lens of Ekambaram, with good technical support. The film stars Shaam, Arunkumar, Kutti Radhika and Seema Biswas. This film was a low-budget production and the soundtrack was composed by Vidyasagar. This love story is set in the backdrop of a lost ship on an island. It enjoyed relative success in the Kollywood box office. The soundtrack was a great hit but the most significant matter about this film is that it won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil for 2003, competing with Virumaandi and Pithamagan as that year's submissions. Plot:
The movie begins with an old couple visiting a jungle. Their memories go back. Selvi (Sunitha) runs out of her house only to find solace in a jungle. She reaches a small hut in deep forest, where she plans to stay. Now enters Azhagu alias Azhagu Sundaram (Abhay). Brought up in the jungle, he spends his life with animals. Plot:

Iruvar is the tale of two men - Selvam, the poet and rising politician and Anandan, a budding actor. This friendship saw, with the rhetoric of the former and the popularity of the latter, the birth of an alliance which politically took the State by storm. And yet, it was the same politics that drove them apart; a separation that was politically permanent.

It was a time when the country was in the turmoil of the Independence struggle. The exuberance in the wake of independence saw the emergence of new regional political parties, the fight for democracy at the regional level and the birth of a rationalistic party for the suppressed and downtrodden, addressing itself solely at the grass-root level. Cinema yet in its infancy, was recognized as a medium to reach a wider spectrum, and utilized to propagate political consciousness and party ideologies. Thus the bond between the cinema and politics was forged. But slowly the emphasis shifted and cinema soon became a medium for the political game.
In such a scenario do Anandan and Selvam meets Anandan is to play the hero of a film of which Selvam is the writer. An instant rapport is struck, both young, full of dreams an, lofty ideals, basking in the glow of the nation's new-found freedom. Both rise in their respective fields, Anandan becoming an icon, with an image as the Messiah of the downtrodden, and Selvam a powerful orator of grand stature, following the Party's spearhead.

When Anandan decides to join politics, Selvam is encouraging, but is also the first to question his motives. Thus begin the competition and acts of one-upmanship, each wary of the other, ever watchful, though on the outside still maintaining the bonhomie; layers of love and hate mingling, making their relationship difficult to fathom. Both grow and grow apart.

Anandan leaves the party, forms a new one and comes to power. The passing years - five decades - witnesses each one trying to out do the other; their struggle for power, the ego superseding their friendship and their dreams. This stark, complex intriguing, relationship continues till the end. Despite lost friendships and brotherhood, in Selvam's eulogy to Anandan, despite the rhetoric, the poet's admiration for his former comrade shines through.

Are they the same two who, with lofty ideals, a dream in their eyes, heart full of hope, marched forward to conquer the world? Those dreams and ideals; where are they?

Plot:

Review:
The passage of growing up is very complicated. Especially in the impressionable times of the teens. It is a phase that is fraught with possibilities and impossibilities. It, in a sense, decides what a person is and what he or she is not.

It is a period when the meaning of life changes as hormones moan and the mind, caught between the innocence that is no longer there and the reality that is still not arrived, play a trick.

Kastoori Raja delivered a hit through Thulluvatho Ilamai as he chronicled the process of growing up in this make or mar period. It was a youth subject for the grown ups. Here in Idhu Kadhal Varum Paruvam, you have women, full of oomph with Kiran particularly being voluptuous.

The story is about Surya (Harish Kumar). The teen school boy’s inner turmoil and his difficult coming of age is the story. His escapades and fantasies with his classmate Raji, model Manasi (Kiran) and a sex worker Swarna (Lakshmi Priya) form the story. The story moves from one fantasy infatuation to another. Towards the end, the characters realise the consequences of whatever has happened before.

The film has enough appeal to the youth section of the audience.

The music and the cinematography are good. Kastoori Raja’s avatar as a music director has exceeded expectations. Performances by the lead stars are good too. Kiran sizzles in a fantasy kind of character. Harish Kumar comes across as an eager and enthusiastic person.

Idhu Kadhal Varum Paruvam is an appealing film especially for those youngsters with a hormonal overdrive.
