Padmanabhan (Prabhu) is a miser for whom every rupee is a treasure. This makes him a laughing stock at the office and in the neighbourhood. Ramya (Ramya Krishnan), who works in the same office, is in love with him. But Padmanabhan, whose only interest in life is saving as much money as possible, refuses to budge. The film takes a sentimental and slightly serious turn when the reason for Padmanabhan's miserliness is unravelled. He is saving every pie possible only to get back his father's house which had been pledged to a moneylender. Giving in ultimately to Ramya's overtures, Padmanabhan marries her, but continues to pursue his goal of retrieving his ancestral property, with single-minded devotion.The simple storyline of Arunachalam has a straightforward screenplay by T. Plot:
The fallacies of a world that fails to recognize creative angst has been captured on celluloid rather effectively. Arjun plays a CBI officer (Vivek) thirsting after the truth while Rukmini Vijayakumar plays the heroine of the film that is shot by Rana (Nana Patekar).The life of Rana (at the work place and at home) is shrouded by his eccentric nature that keeps all people around him not knowing what to expect….and yet a girl (Kajal Agarwal) who has a penchant for poetry admires him for his creative genius. From Rana's viewpoint she comes across as a breath of fresh air who even succeeds in revealing a pleasant side.Filmmaking is tough work with provocation coming in as distraction all the time. This obviously irritates Rana….to boot there are dead bodies that are discovered. The CBI investigates the film director on suspicion of multiple murders. Flashes of the director's life are showcased and the audience do get engulfed with the suspense element from time to time.Why does the director have such an affinity for his heroine? The story begins with a sadistic underworld don David Billa (Ajith Kumar). Most-wanted gangster, hiding and operating out of Canada, on the top of Interpol’s criminal list. DSP Jayprakash (Prabhu) has spent a huge chunk of the last few years looking for the elusive Billa. He has left a life behind in India, only to base himself in Canada and strategise the capture of the man who has 50 high-profile crime cases slapped against him.The Malaysian team is headed by the DSP who wants to break the back of the operations of the Underworld Dons. He believes that capturing the dangerous and elusive underworld don, David Billa, will be the most EASIEST thing in the world. Billa's gang consist nobody, it's a one man gang!! During a chase with the police Billa is seriously wounded after an accident and dies in front of the DSP. The DSP then secretly holds a burying of Billa. Enters an Interpol Officer Gokulnath (Rahman) who is assigned to work with DSP Jayaprakash to capture elusive Billa as no-one knows of Billa's death. DSP Jayaprakash keeps the death of Billa as a secret even from his fellow officers, and tracks down a look-alike called Saravana Velu, a lowly pick-pocket(also played by Ajith Kumar). He asks Velu to infiltrate Billa's gang by pretending to be Billa. In return he will make sure that the child Velu adopted, Karan gets a proper education. The DSP trains Velu and sends him back to Billa's gang as a person who has lost his memory (Amnesia). Slowly Velu starts to learn about Billa's Gang and even speaks to Jagdish on the phone. Velu provides a pen drive with the secret information of the crime network to the DSP, but he is about to be killed by Sasha. At this juncture, DSP arrive and tell her that he is Velu and not Billa. Later Velu secretly provides information to the DSP about a meeting of Billa's Network and C.j overhears his conversation. He accidentally kills C.J. A shootout occurs at the party and the DSP is secretly killed by Jagdish, leaving his gun behind. Velu finds the DSP's body and the gun, but is taken into the custody of the police team, now headed by Interpol Officer Gokulnath. He argues during interrogation that he is Velu and not Billa to Gokulnath. Velu mentions a piece of evidence - the pen drive which may prove his innocence but the pen drive is no where to be found. Unable to prove is innocence, he escapes from a police van mnaking the police to run after him too. He phones to Gokulnath and ask him to meet at the Aero bridge. Here it is revealed that Gokulnath is none other than the Underworld Crime Don Jagdish and he is the one who killed Jayprakash. Officer Anil Menon apparently had the Pen drive all along and strikes a deal to get hold of Jagdish. Meanwhile Sasha is been kidnapped by Jagdish and Jagdish wants the pen drive in return for it. Velu meets Ranjith and gives him a second pen drive with the same data, but corrupted, but when Ranjith tries to kill Velu, a scuffle ensues making Ranjith fall from the top. In a final confrontation, Jagdish fights with Velu, by the time police arrives. Jagdish posing as Gokulnath asks the police to arrest Velu as Billa but gets shot by the squad of police and dies as the police have wired the entire conversation between Jagdish and Velu, thus proving his innocence. Velu finally hands over the original pen drive to Officer Menon

His allegiance to the Zamindar, along with his fear of the caste system make him unwilling to stop the marriage. Bharathi's sister, however, also falls in love with a rich young man from a neighbouring town, and their differing circumstances do not hinder them from forming a relationship.

The film starts with this phenomenal poet's funeral, which was attended by only fourteen people.
Why did this happen?
To answer this question, we are taken back to the time when Bharathi was a small boy. The director Gnanasekaran, has portrayed beautifully how, even as a small boy, Subramani (Bharathi's real name) was a child prodigy, with different perceptions and ideas.
Shayaji Shindey's intense eyes, which smoulder with a mix of anger, frustration, dreams, defiance and passion, his royal swagger and the entire gamut of his expressions prove that this Marathi actor has lived the part of Bharathi. In the scene, when he blesses Mahatma Gandhi's efforts for independence and walks away, saying that he cannot postpone his meeting, we get a glimpse of the poet's spirit and defiance.
A few more scenes that stand out in the movie - the scene of his daughter's wedding, when he says, " Coming down from the level of Bharathi to that of an ordinary brahmin father, is not such a big task." Also, the scene, when he asks Goddess Parasakthi to release him from family worries and tensions.
Devayani, as the docile wife Chellamma, provides a perfect foil to the intense Bharathi, proving once again that she has substance. She portrays effectively, the turmoil of a conservative lady, married to a revolutionary husband.
The highlight of the movie is the music of Ilayaraja. The maestro has used percussion instruments to good effect. The background score is also excellent. The camera work of Thangar Bachan and the scenic locales deserve a special mention.In some places the editing becomes too crisp and lacks continuity. And some of the scenes that are provided for comic relief, distract attention from the seriousness of the movie. But as we came out of the theatre, Bharathi's last words, " I am not conquered by death. I will live on forever" echo in our minds. A 'must-see' movie.

Plot:
A story narrated as a flashback in the life of an underworld don. Bhagavathy is a typical guy who runs a tea shop; his main dream is of educating his brother to be a doctor. Unfortunately, things turn upside down when his brother falls in love with a girl and is murdered by her father. This in turn makes Bhagavathy kill the father and he is plunged into the criminal world to take his revenge.

Plot:
Manikkam is an auto driver with a great past. The movie starts with Manikkam giving money to two auto drivers to help them pay dowry and for an operation, as the movie rolls his sister who gets 98% in her exam cannot get into a private medical college because she cannot pay the fees. He then goes and talks to the admission person and requests to speak alone he says something that is not audible to the audience and the admission person suddenly gets scared and then says he will give a 100 seats if he wants it.
Based on unexpected twists to the story, like the one above, the movie shows that Manikkam was actually once a Don named Manik Baasha in Bombay (now Mumbai). The storyline in this part of the movie, shows how the character of Manikkam becomes the Don, Manik Baashha, but later makes the city and its media believe that the he was killed by his rival don, Antony (played by Raghuvaran).
Keeping his real identity secret, he left Bombay to start a new life as an auto rikshaw driver. But in his new life, he meets and falls in love with Priya (Nagma), and marries her. But unfortunately, his old life has followed him when Priya's father, a former member of Mark Antony's gang, recognises Manik Baashha.
The climax of the movie involves Manikkam saving his family from the vile character Antony.

Plot:
Ravi a band master by profession leads a happy and contented life. A small harmless play staged by one of the troupe member Mani, lands Ravi in trouble, as he falls in love with the minister Veeraraghavan’s daughter Gita, thus inviting the wrath of the minister. Ravi’s arch rival KSR uses this opportunity to finish off Ravi. Believing Ravi to be dead Gita looses her sanity. Ravi miraculously escapes but Gita is unable to recognize him. Her marriage is fixed by her father, and Ravi is held captive by KSR. Under the given circumstance what will happen to the love between Gita and Ravi?
