For actor Rajinikanth 2008 promises to be very busy, considering that he will start work on director Shankar’s ‘Robot’.
Though the news was already doing the rounds, Ayngaran International and Eros Multimedia have made an official announcement about the coming together of the ‘Superstar’, director Shankar and music director A.R. Rahman for ‘Robot.’
The other technicians involved in ‘Robot’ would be cinematographer Nirav Shah, who recently worked in ‘Billa’ and art director Sabu Cyril.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that discussions are on for Rajinikanth’s next project with director P. Vasu, which may be a remake of the Malayalam film ‘Kadha Parayumbhol’ starring actors Mammootty and Sreenivasan.
“Yes, we are considering this project and discussions are on. We will take a final decision by January 15,” director P. Vasu said.
Sources said Kavithalaya will co-produce the film. While ‘Robot’ is expected to take at least two years to complete, this Malayalam remake looks at the friendship between a village barber and a reigning superstar. While the reigning superstar is actor Rajinikanth, industry sources say actor Pasupathy, who played villain in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Virumandi’, is likely to play the village barber.
