After becoming the first Indian to win the Golden Globe, music maestro Rahman added yet another feather in his cap blazing a new trail getting a triple Oscar nomination in two categories, an unprecedented feat for any Indian.The 43-year-old music wizard, nicknamed 'Mozart of Madras', who has enthralled audience in the country and abroad with his heartwarming symphonies finally got his due recognition on the international stage with his composition in the movie Slumdog Millionaire.Nominated in the Best Original Score and Best Original Song categories for two of his compositions -- 'Jai Ho' and 'O Saya'.

AR Rahman Wins Golden Globe Award for 'Slumdog Millionaire'

Music maestro A R Rahman, who became the first Indian to win the prestigious Golden Globe Award, dedicated it to the "billion people of India," as British Director Danny Boyle's Mumbai-based saga 'Slumdog Millionaire,' bagged four prizes at the ceremony on Monday.
Rahman, who won the coveted prize for his music score 'Jai Ho' in the film, thanked the director and his fellow musicians in Mumbai and Chennai, besides the "billion people from India".

"Unbelievable..! I thought, I would not win, so anyways thanks to the almighty God for bringing me here... Danny Boyle, Fox pictures, all my musicians in Chennai, Mumbai,... and the billion people from India," he said while accepting the award.

AR Rahman Wins BAFTA ( British Academy Film Awards) Best Music Award for 'Slumdog Millionaire'

After picking up the coveted BAFTA (British Academy Film and Television Arts) award, for his score for Slumdog Millionaire, in the Best Music category, he has his sights firmly on the Oscars now.
As he told reporters, after his BAFTA acceptance speech, “It is a great feeling... It is getting better and better and let’s hope for the biggest one – the Oscar.” He added, “I think it is important for people to know who the composer is. People have started liking the score of the movie and it’s is a great feeling.”
Slumdog’s success has been remarkable and Rahman said the journey has been “unbelievable”. While accepting the award, Rahman thanked, among others, “My beloved fans all over the world.”
