Jeeva plays the role of Bagyaraj, a young and aspiring person who is struggling hard to become a hero in films. Hailing form a poor family, his aim in life is to settle down in a good position and get his sisters married. All the struggles and difficulties faced by Jeeva and his family are shown in a very comical way.

Swaminathan plays the role of Sivaji who is a retired Military Officer and the one who stands by the side of Jeeva during all his difficulties. Easter, yet another important character plays the role of Parthipan in Thalagani Kanavugal.
