Tamil rap/pop songs



Hip hop music is a style of popular music composed of a rhythmic, rhyming vocal style called rapping (also known as emceeing) over backing beats and scratching performed on a turntable by a DJ. When combined with breakdancing and graffiti art, these are the four elements of Hiphop,

Rapping is the rhythmic spoken delivery of rhymes and wordplay, one of the central elements of hip hop music and culture. Although the word rap has sometimes been claimed to be a backronym of the phrase "Rhythmic American Poetry", "Rhythm and Poetry", "Rhythmically Applied Poetry", or "Rhythmically Associated Poetry", use of the word to describe quick and slangy speech or repartee long predates the musical form. Poetic Ammo (also known as PMO) is a Malaysian rap/hip-hop group. The group consists of Yogeswaran Veerasingam a.k.a Yogi B, Chandrakumar Balakrishnan a.k.a Land Slyde, Nicholas Ong a.k.a Point Blanc and Sashi Kumar Balakrishnan a.k.a C.Loco. Most of their songs are in English but they have also released tracks in Bahasa Melayu, Tamil, and Cantonese. There has been not much activity coming from Poetic Ammo in the past few years, after formation of Yogi B and Natchatra group.

Yogi B: Yogi B started his career in Poetic Ammo group in 1998, released ground breaking album "It's a nice day to be alive" which mad hip-hop a household music genere.

Dr.Burn: Dr.Burn started his career as a stage performer in 1996 while furthering his studies in audio engineering. His introduction to hip-hop was when he and some of his friends formed the underground rap group called worst media clique (W.M.C). He also has a self-titled debut album under the alai osai label to his credit. Dr.Burn has also worked with most of the Tamil industry's leading artistes while he was the sound engineer at Tribe studios. He then got a chance to meet Yogi B while working on Lockup Guna's solo project.

Emcee Jesz: Emcee Jesz stared off his rap career at the age of 18 when he performed for the first time for his college's Indian cultural society night. He then continued his music journey by forming a group called Indiana soul with his now ex-partner, performing at underground hip-hop songs gigs. It was around his time that he was approached by Yogi B to join Natchatra.

In 2006 Yogi B has roped in Dr.Burn and Emcee Jesz, the duo, collectively known as Natchatra.

Yogi B released an album titled "Vallavan" in collaboration with Natchatra.
