The Biggest plus in the movie is camera work .Nirav has magic in his camera and the way he has played with angles and lighting quite on par with a Hollywood biggie – resembles international standards, very cool. Everyone knows the kind of output he gives in a Vishnu Vardhan movie, but the clean colours, the cold cruelty and the minimalistic backdrops are brought to complete clarity by him. However the location chosen was so cool that its a real treat to eyes for tamil audience...

Nayantara is the one out to tame the beast, consumed by the need for revenge. She is an electric mix of sexy and tough, beauty and fighting skill. The intro scene for nayantara is super cool that one cannot imagine for a heroine in tamil movie. She has did an awesome job in this movie. credit should goes to anu vardhan who is the costume designer for this movie.. Nayantara in this movie is too hot!!! man :-) [in one scene she comes in bikini wear and her tight outfit and new slim look really hot].

Yuvan’s music is brilliant! Theme music is awesome and Every single song along with visuals sounds great. The background music gives the visuals so much attitude, so much mystery and arrogance that it is a superb blend.

Rose dawn as rhia, rahman as police officer cum gangster and also all other character artist has played their part well.

Last but not least Billa2007 would not be there without its majestic director Vishnu vardhan and its hero Ajith. After watching the movie i think no one else in the kollywood can fit in that stylish Billa role other than our ultimate star. Ajith's hard work is noticed in the film... without dups he did most of the fight sequence and also the car chases. Hats off to ajith !!! screenplay is too good all credits should go to its director.

Minuses(--)

It is difficult to have film without minuses...Though the film was so racy and exciting in the first half but it was not carried with the same pace in the second half... the climax was too short that many expected it with more excitements and actions... In song sequence like 'seval kodi' and in 'vethaliya potendi' ajith should have danced little bit better- it looks like movements and the song sequence mismatch a little..

Namitha's role could have been better a bit more stronger... though she looks ravishingly hot and sexy in few of the scenes, in the song 'nan mattum' one can see she looks fatty and it is a sheer agony to watch and endure..

searching for Pen drive may do little bit damage to logic as one can easily copy a file from it and can give that back anyway its very common in tamil industry...

Though there are very few minuses its pluses has won over it... The film is a real entertainmenr for two hour fifteen minutes... i am sure that it will make ajith fans spell bound till interval... its worthy to watch... After anniyan this is the second film i am going to watch it twice in theater... Overall BILLA rocks !!!!

After almost two and half decades, 'Billa' revisits Kollywood. But this time in a different form. The blockbuster is remade in Tamil cinema to suit the contemporary audience in the same title. The handsome Ajith takes up the mantle from Rajinikanth to play the amiable don 'Billa'.

A heady mix of commercial cocktail, the original version of Billa won the admiration of everyone for the 'Rajinikanth magic' worked well on screen. Hoping to recreate the magic is Ajith. The latter reportedly called on Rajinikanth and sought his blessings and advice on performing the roles before commencing the shooting.

Director Vishnuvardhan, who wields the megaphone for the movie, says, "half the battle was already won when we got the permission from Rajinikanth to remake his 'Billa'. But I was burdened with a responsibility to ensure the remake version match the standards of the original. Hopefully we would satisfy the fans".

Nayanthara dons the role enacted by Sri Priya in the original, while Namitha has performed the character played by Praveena. Prabhu plays a prominent role in the movie.

'Billa' was shot extensively in Malaysia. Says Vishnuvardhan, "with a cream of talented technicians involved in the making of 'Billa', the movie has come technically rich and trendy. We have toiled hard to ensure that every frame appease the audience".

A stunt sequence in Malaysia and a couple chases have been canned well by Neerav Shah.

Yuvanshankar Raja has come up with catchy musical score in 'Billa'. It is stylish and class written all over it, says Vishnuvardhan. The popular songs "My Name is Billa" has been retuned in an excellent manner by Yuvan and captured well by Neerav Shah's lens, adds Vishnuvardhan.

Producer Ananda Suresh is all smiles talking about his home production. "It is a trendy and chic film. Ajith is at his best with all other characters giving him good company. Vishnuvardhan has given a different colour to Billa, which we all are familiar with".

He says the movie has created a lot of expectations among Tamil audience all around the globe. Plans are on to release the movie worldwide next month with subtitles in English.

'Billa' is a movie that is sure to assert Ajith's dominance in the Tamil film industry. Already a mass hero, Ajith will take a giant leap towards establishing himself a 'numero uno star' in Kollywood.

Ajith - Billa - Songs review

Music Review

My name is Billa (Naveen, Kay Kay)

It was the anthem of youngsters in early 1980s. Yuvan was careful in getting the soul of the song and give it a different colour. Set in a racy tempo, the song has all ingredients to make it big. Naveen and Kay Kay have tried to catch up with SPB, who rendered the original.

The rap and the guitar interludes deserve appreciation.

Naan Meendum (Deepika)

Watch out for Deepika. The newcomer has rendered this racy number to near perfection. Peppy and foot tapping, the song has enough stringed instruments in the interludes to make it mystifying. A right song for sombre mind. Peppy and pacy.

Sei (Nithya Mahadevan)

Again a racy number. The instruments seem to have overtaken the vocals. But the pace at which the song progresses makes us forget about the vocals. A typical Yuvan song rendered in an Anglican accent. Watch it with visuals, it may appeal to you.

eval Kodi (Vijay Yesudas)

A typical mass song. Interestingly the soft voice of Vijay Yesudass has been roped in to sing this number. Peppy and filled with brisk music, the Seval Koddi is a perfect number for Ajit fans to rejoice in cinema halls.

The use of percussion and additional rhythm is a delight to listen to.

Vethayala Pottendi (Shankar Mahadevan)

Shankar Mahadevan instantly reminds us of energy. His voice not just adds sheen to songs but also brisk energy. Vethalaya Pottendi, a remix from the original Billa, is one such song from him.

Plot:
In 2007, the drug trade is booming. The Malaysian Intelligence and Anti-Narcotic Department are called upon for assistance by their Indian counterparts. There are rumours that a drug gang has recently moved their headquarters to Kuala Lumpur.[1]

The Indian team is headed by the DCP (Rahman) who wants to break the back of the drug operations of a drug lord. He believes that capturing the drug Lord's dangerous and elusive lieutenant, Billa, (Ajith Kumar), will be the most effective way of accomplishing this. Billa's gang consist of Narang (Santhanam) and Anita (Namitha). Soon, Roma (Nayanthara)[1] joins them but she has other plans - kill Billa. Billa was responsible for killing her brother Ramesh as well as his fiancee, Kamini.

During a chase with the police the real Billa is critically injured and is captured by the DSP. He keeps it a secret that he has captured Billa, even from his fellow officers, and tracks down a look-alike called Jeeva, a lowly singer (also played by Ajith Kumar). He asks Jeeva to infiltrate Billa's gang by pretending to be Billa. In return he will make sure that the child Jeeva found and adopted, Deepu gets a proper education. Meanwhile Jasjit who has just been released from prison sets out in search for his son, Deepu, and to get his revenge on the DSP who arrested him and prevented him from rescuing his wife and child from black mailers, this in turn killed his wife and left his son missing.

The DSP[1] trains Jeeva and admits him in a hospital (in which Billa is also admitted and supposedly in coma) to surgically give him all the scars and birthmarks the real Billa has on his body. However Billa dies of heart failure suddenly in front of the DSP and the doctors, who are unable to save him. While Jeeva is infiltrating Billa's gang, the DSP is captured and killed in a fire blast; and Jeeva is forced to run from the police as well as Billa's gang members -- pursuing the last piece of evidence (a disc) which has all of Billa's criminal activities loaded on it, a disc which can get him out of this mess.

Through various plot twists, Jeeva recovers the disc. Eventually, it surfaces that the DSP is alive and is actually Vardhan, a notorious underground criminal with a grudge against the Drug Lord, Billa's boss, and eventually ends up killing him. Jeeva arranges a meeting with Vardhan and assists in his capture.

In a final twist, it emerges that the real Billa is still alive, and was pretending to be Jeeva who he killed and replaced while in the hospital. It was actually Jeeva who had died in the hospital of heart failure in front of Vardhan. In the end both Billa and his girlfriend Anita (Namitha) escape, bewildering the police and Roma.
